Christmas came early this year for the country’s property speculators. Up to NINETY BILLION EURO EURO in auctioneers, land speculators and property developers debts are to be written off in a specially created “bad bank” (the brainchild of Fine Gael TD Richard Bruton ) which was adopted by the Fianna Fail – Green Party – Harney coalition government in today’s corporate welfare budget.
This ninety billion euro hand out will be funded by cutting dole payments to unemployed youngsters, abolishing the “Christmas Bonus” welfare payment to the poor and pensioners, taxing minimum wage workers and taking more money from the wages of low paid public and private sector workers.
The cause of the collapse of Ireland’s domestic economy has now been well and truly identified as being as a direct consequence of Ireland’s residential property market being systematicly “raped” by local and national property developers, estate agents, land speculators and lending agencies like banks and building societies. The rape of the country’s economy was politically facilitated and encouraged (all through the Celtic Tiger era) by Fianna Fail, Fine Gael, and even Labour, as evidenced locally by the coming together of Louth County Cllrs. Ged Nash, Jimmy Mulroy, Anthony Donohue, Michael O’Dowd, Frank Maher, Oliver Tully in a “Grand Coalition” to re-zone prime agricultural land and “assist” the developers and speculators behind the discredited North Drogheda Environs Development Plan to build over 7, 200 unwanted, and massively over-priced, new houses on green fields stretching from Newtown- stallaban across to Townrath and Ballymakenny.
The upcoming June 5th Local Elections will afford the public in North Drogheda the chance to deal a massive blow to this type of rotten cross-party political duplicity and deception. I respectfully ask for your support in the June poll with your No. 1 vote.

Read on Comrade….
SEPTEMBER 1913 (William Butler Yeats)
WHAT need you, being come to sense,
But fumble in a greasy till
And add the halfpence to the pence
And prayer to shivering prayer, until
You have dried the marrow from the bone;
For men were born to pray and save:
Romantic Ireland’s dead and gone,
It’s with O’Leary in the grave.
Yet they were of a different kind
The names that stilled your childish play,
They have gone about the world like wind,
But little time had they to pray
For whom the hangman’s rope was spun,
And what, God help us, could they save:
Romantic Ireland’s dead and gone,
It’s with O’Leary in the grave.
Was it for this the wild geese spread
The grey wing upon every tide;
For this that all that blood was shed,
For this Edward Fitzgerald died,
And Robert Emmet and Wolfe Tone,
All that delirium of the brave;
Romantic Ireland’s dead and gone,
It’s with O’Leary in the grave.
Yet could we turn the years again,
And call those exiles as they were,
In all their loneliness and pain
You’d cry ‘Some woman’s yellow hair
Has maddened every mother’s son’:
They weighed so lightly what they gave,
But let them be, they’re dead and gone,
They’re with O’Leary in the grave.
